Building knowledge and pride through First Nations artwork

Integrating First Nations artwork into our projects has become an important part of our urban design approach. The artwork is not only striking in appearance, but more importantly, it helps build knowledge and pride in our First Nations' culture and history.  That knowledge helps us find common ground and progresses our nation's reconciliation efforts.

The Ovingham Level Crossing Removal project in Adelaide is a great example of this.  There, local indigenous artists have brought the abutment walls and the undercroft of the new bridge to life with their artwork, which tells the story of the moon or 'Kakirra' in the language of the local Kaurna people.
