The Company is pleased to announce that PETRONAS, through its indirect wholly owned subsidiary, PRPC Utilities and Facilities Sdn, Bhd., has awarded the Joint Venture “SYS-MCD (SPJ) JV” between See Yong & Son Construction Sdn Bhd and McConnell Dowell (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd the EPCC contract for Package 12B – Provision of Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Commissioning (EPCC) of Solid Product Jetty and associated Handling Facilities (SPJ) at Tanjung Setapa, as part of the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project for PETRONAS’ Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) in Pengerang, Johor.

The Package 12B SPJ Facility consists of:

• A Solid Handling Jetty comprising a 1,337m trestle, 700m jetty head, 2 container berths and a sulphur loading berth.
• Onshore Civil Works comprising a container stacking yard, truck and trailer parks, a workshop area along with distributor roads and utilities.
• Industrial Buildings comprising a 280m long Sulphur stockpile, a terminal operation and administration building, workshop, substations and other ancillary buildings.
• Topside and landside material handling system for Sulphur with loaders and unloaders including all mechanical and electrical works

The project commences immediately with a 30 month duration including an extensive 6 month Engineering design phase.

This project presents an opportunity for the SYS McConnell Dowell Joint Venture to consolidate further it’s excellence in Malaysia’s marine construction industry as well as bringing to the fore our multi discipline capabilities in material handling, industrial buildings and civil infrastructure.
