McConnell Dowell Awarded the Lyttelton to Woolston Pipeline Improvement Project

McConnell Dowell is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Lyttelton to Woolston Pipeline Improvement Project for a major oil company.

The project covers the construction and commissioning of a replacement section of this pipeline along Bridal Path road and in Kiwirail land, beside the Heathcote Valley Primary School

McConnell Dowell has an extensive mechanical self-perform capability and track record and we are excited at the opportunity to deliver a high quality and safe project for their fuel pipeline infrastructure.

The work consists of:

  • Replacing the pipeline that currently runs through the Heathcote Valley Primary School property with a larger buried DN150 pipeline to be installed in the adjacent Kiwi Rail corridor.
  • Replacing 1210m of the pipeline up the Bridle Path Road to a tie-in location on the Bridle Path just above the level of the tunnel entrance.

The new pipeline section will follow a similar route to the old pipeline section in the Bridal Path Road, with an offset so that the new pipe may be installed while the existing pipe remains in service. The only shut down required will be for the two tie-ins at either end.

McConnell Dowell has an extensive mechanical self-perform capability and track record in oil and gas, and we are excited at the opportunity to return to Lyttelton to deliver a high quality and safe project for this piece of fuel pipeline infrastructure.
