We constructed a 145 TJ per day gas compression and water treatment hub, with associated infrastructure and water gathering lines, at the coal seam gas fields north east of Roma in Queensland. The infrastructure enabled collection and processing of gas for delivery via an export pipeline to an LNG processing plant on Curtis Island, off Gladstone.
The large and complex project required a multi-disciplinary approach, with a focus on facilities for gas compression, power generation and water treatment, in addition to pipeline construction.
Experienced and qualified personnel were also in short supply with many other LNG projects in progress across the state.
We were able to mobilise an integrated, experienced multi-disciplinary team, with the ability to self-perform a large percentage of the works, including engineering, civil, pipelines, structural, mechanical and piping, and electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
Our scope of works expanded considerably during the course of the project. We managed scope changes through continuous review of our delivery strategy, and by being flexible in changing resource and program requirements.
As a result, the Roma Hub delivered by us was the most cost-effective of three similar facilities built by Santos.
