Built Environs Company Profile

Built Environs is drawn to complex projects that demand innovation and creativity that is why we invest in emerging technologies and clever people. We demonstrate a culture of progressive thinking and continued growth, and our approach seeks opportunities, embraces change and finds new and creative construction solutions for challenging projects. Our drive to find better ways to build, has seen us achieve several “firsts”, and we are proud to share this knowledge for the benefit of the local construction industry. The elegant Oval Hotel wraps seamlessly around the eastern façade of the historic Adelaide Oval and is the first of its kind in Australia and a one of a kind accommodation experience anywhere in the world. Not only does this project reflect Built Environs’ ability to construct world class buildings in the heart of urban environments, but our creativity in proposing alternative construction materials, in this case, cross laminated timber; a renewable resource of planks of sawn, glued and layered wood joined at perpendicular angles. Recognised for its strength, appearance, versatility and sustainability outcomes, Built Environs proposed the use of CLT rather than steel as originally proposed to manage the weight restrictions of the existing stadium infrastructure and meet the client’s sustainability requirements. Built Environs is also using CLT on the Auckland City Mission HomeGround project which, when complete, will be New Zealand’s tallest cross laminated timber building . Oval Hotel Modbury Hospital Creative Construction Creative Construction The Modbury Hospital Upgrade is an integral component of the State Government’s Building What Matters initiative and will reduce pressure on emergency departments and provide access to a higher level of care for Adelaide’s north-eastern communities. Of the 13,000m2 of work in scope, all work areas are located directly above, below or beside operational hospital areas. To minimise disruption to critical health services, the Built Environs team built early, strong relationships with the hospital’s staff and stakeholders, planning and staging works around hospital activities without impact to the construction program. Built Environs has produced a 3D visualisation showing how the public can safely access the emergency department, drop off/pick up zone, accessible car park and main car park during the completion of construction activities, a link to which can be sent to patients and accessed via the hospital’s website.
