Location Jurong Island, Singapore
Completion December 2019
McConnell Dowell has joint ventured with ITP (IMJV) and recently been awarded the EPC contract for the VTB (Vacuum Tower Bottoms) Subsea Pipeline for ExxonMobil in Jurong Island, Singapore.
IMJV is an ideal match, having over 45 years of combined experience in specialist PIP (Pipe-in-Pipe) design and supply, EHT (Electrical Heat Tracing) engineering and local Singapore knowledge in civil and marine works.
Scope of Works
The main scope of works includes:
- EPC of a 2km 12” electrically heated PIP (18” outer pipe) high temperature subsea pipeline
- Subsea trenching and protection
- Shore crossings
- Pipeline end termination
- Controls/monitoring systems
- Cathodic Protection (CP) isolation
This critical subsea pipeline will transfer VTB to Jurong Island for additional processing.
The PIP EHT subsea line will be the world’s first in downstream industry - the pipeline will be operated above 200°C, making it the hottest subsea pipe in the world.
The project team has already mobilized with a kick-off on site. Engineering and geotechnical activities are underway with all plans, procedures and schedules currently being developed for submission to ExxonMobil.
