Client Thai Oil Company Limited
McConnell Dowell has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the New Bang Phra Raw Water Line Project Pump Station Package. The project is located at Bang Phra Reservoir, Chonburi, Thailand, which is approximately 16 km from the Thai Oil Public Company Limited (TOP) Refinery in Sriracha, where our McConnell Dowell team in Thailand successfully completed the IDEA Project for the construction of 4 km 36” HDPE Pipeline last year.
The project is linked to the overall USD 4.5b Clean Fuel Project at Thai Oil’s Sriracha Refinery which requires an increase in raw water supply. The new Pump Station and Raw Water Pipeline will provide over 4,000m3/h of raw water and will replace the existing system which is insufficient due to its low capacity pumps, pipe leakage and corrosion due to sediment.
The multidisciplinary nature of the project which includes the construction of a temporary cofferdam (20m x 20m and approximately 10m deep), allowed MCD to differentiate from our competitors by bringing together knowledge and experience from across the group.
This is a very important win for MCD in Thailand as it will further grow our relationship with Thai Oil and positions us well for further opportunities. With the marine and civil works associated with the pier and cofferdam, this is also an opportunity for MCD to further build the our in-country expertise and capabilities.
