McConnell Dowell is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the design and construction contract for the Snells Algies Outfall Pipeline by Watercare Services Limited.
This project continues to build on McConnell Dowell’s extensive track record in the construction of major marine outfall pipelines in New Zealand. Our solution features the use of the Direct Pipe system to install a similar length of trenchless pipeline to that completed last year as part of the Army Bay outfall project, where we successfully achieved a world record for the longest Direct Pipe installation to date at 1930m.

We look forward to doing this once again at Snells Algies, applying our expertise in Direct Pipe methodology to improve water quality in the Mahurangi Harbour and delivering an upgraded wastewater system for this fast-growing region”.
The works consist of:
- Approximately 4.3 kilometres of 630mm diameter pipeline from Snells Algies to South of Martins Bay; and
- A 2.2 kilometres of 1.2 diameter pipe installed using the Direct Pipe system
- A 230m marine dig and lay section.
Design is to commence in March 2019, with physical work on site commencing later this year with completion in 2021.
