McConnell Dowell is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a major contract to carry out site development works for the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant (TWRP) by PUB, Singapore’s national water agency. McConnell Dowell will provide site-wide facilities and support services for TWRP including construction of the outfall, sewer connections in the vicinity, as well as the provision and maintenance of services including security, utilities, telecommunications and traffic management.

Scott Cummins, Chief Executive Officer of McConnell Dowell, said the contract win is a significant milestone for the Group.

“The Tuas Water Reclamation Plant is a highly strategic and important infrastructural project that will deliver substantial environmental and social benefits to Singapore and its people. This announcement comes after McConnell Dowell’s successful completion late last year of the complex Tuas Road Bridges project for a related Singapore Government entity in the Tuas vicinity. This award recognises the high-standard of quality work and the expertise demonstrated by McConnell Dowell in delivering complex projects working collaboratively with all stakeholders.”

TWRP is a key facility as part of the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System (DTSS) Phase 2 project. Used water from homes and industries in the western part of Singapore will be channelled through the deep tunnel sewers to the TWRP for treatment and further reclamation into ultra-clean, high-grade NEWater.  When completed, TWRP will be the largest water reclamation plant in Singapore to use membrane bioreactor technology to treat both used water sources and to higher standards.

This award demonstrates McConnell Dowell’s diverse capability to deliver large and critical infrastructure assets across all of our operating regions and the contribution of the Group’s innovative and cost-effective delivery solution in support of Singapore’s continued growth and sustainability objectives.

McConnell Dowell’s South-East Asia Managing Director, Stephen Rogers, said the project further elevated the company’s credibility in undertaking challenging community improvement projects.

“The completion of the project will see McConnell Dowell further strengthen its position working for major Singapore Government authorities and more specifically in the water treatment complex infrastructure sector. McConnell Dowell has decades of local experience in delivering important commercial and social infrastructure projects across Asia,” Mr Rogers said.

The completion of the project will see McConnell Dowell firmly positioned as a heavyweight in the water treatment industry, within the infrastructure sector. It will add to the decades of experience in, and record of successfully delivering major infrastructure projects across South East Asia”

Construction on the contracted scope of work is scheduled to commence in early 2019, with the full commercial operation targeted for 2025.
