The Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Graham Quirk offically opened the final ferry terminal rebuilt by McConnell Dowell on the Brisbane River this morning, June 23, 2015.
In January 2011, Brisbane experienced its worst flood event since 1974, decimating the numerous public ferry terminals and CityCat and CityFerry mooring sites along the river.
In early 2014, Brisbane City Council awarded McConnell Dowell the contract to reconstruct seven modern, flood resilient terminals including a new terminal at Milton and moorings at Dutton Park and St Lucia.
After just over 12 months construction, the final terminal was open at Holman Street this morning, completing the project on schedule.
The new facilities include new covered waiting areas, covered aluminium gangways, steel pontoons and a debris deflection pier capable of berthing two CityCat vessels simultaneously.
Congratulations to the McConnell Dowell team and our project partners and suppliers on a job well done.
