We delivered the Archer River Crossing project for Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) in remote, Far North Queensland.
The Archer River Crossing is one part of the broader Cape York Region Package (CYRP) Stage 2, which is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Roads of Strategic Importance program.
The Christchurch Southern Motorway Stage 2 (CSM2) project addresses growing congestion in Christchurch’s south and southwest suburbs by delivering a four-lane, median separated motorway from near Rolleston to Robinsons Road. CSM2 follows the first stage of the new motorway, CSM1, which was completed in December 2012.
The upgraded road network now provides better access between the south of Christchurch and the city centre and Lyttelton Port by improving the alignment, capacity and safety of the Christchurch Southern Corridor. The new motorway halves travel time between Rolleston and Christchurch at peak-times (from around 30 minutes down to 15) and will reduce the number of fatal and serious crashes by up to 40%.
An innovative bridge solution saw us secure the design and delivery of this important new river crossing for the Victorian and NSW state governments.
Completed four months ahead of schedule, construction of this vital second crossing between Echuca and Moama included new bridges over the Murray and Campaspe rivers, and two new flood relief bridges.
We delivered the first tranche of the Inland Rail project in Victoria - the Beveridge to Albury (B2A) package. The overall Inland Rail project will enable double-stacked freight trains to operate between Brisbane and Melbourne.
Our contract encompassed four 'rail enhancement' sites located in central and northern Victoria, as well as some corridor wide works. The enhancement site works included bridge replacements at Glenrowan, Wangaratta and Seymour; transformation of Wangaratta Station; and track lowering. Corridor wide scope included signalling works, track slews and overhead utilities.
Working within the heart of Penrith to deliver this vital road upgrade, we collaborated with TfNSW and developed innovative construction and staging solutions that minimised disruption to the community and commuters.
The project scope included widening Castlereagh Road and Mulgoa Road to three lanes in each direction; upgrading intersections at High Street - Mulgoa Road and Castlereagh Road - Jane Street; constructing a new rail bridge over Castlereagh Road; and upgrading pedestrian and cycle paths.
We are the constructor and leader of the Western Program Alliance, delivering part of the Victorian state government’s ambitious level crossing removal program, which is set to remove 110 dangerous level crossings by 2030.
Our Alliance brings together ourselves, the Level Crossing Removal Project (government), MTM and V/Line (network operators), and Arup and Mott MacDonald (design partners).
The McConnell Dowell Decmil Joint Venture delivered the Mordialloc Freeway in Melbourne’s south east four weeks ahead of schedule while setting new industry benchmarks in sustainability and workplace mental health management.
The nine kilometre freeway links the Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Springvale Road in Aspendale Gardens to the Dingley Bypass in Dingley Village, creating a continuous freeway from Frankston To Clayton.
We delivered the New Bridgewater Bridge project in Hobart - Tasmania's largest ever transport infrastructure project and one of the longest road bridges over water in Australia. The Tasmanian Department of State Growth awarded us the contract based on our innovative design and focus on local industry participation.
The new 1.28 kilometre long bridge replaces the existing lift-span bridge built in the 1940s, providing a new modern crossing of the River Derwent. The new bridge will cut travel times for the 22,000 people that use the route each day. It will also improve freight movement around the state capital.
In an alliance with the South Australian State Government, Mott MacDonald and Arup, we successfully removed the level crossing at Torrens Road, Ovingham, improving travel times, bus reliability, and safety and amenity for the community.
Located near the fringe of the Adelaide CBD, an average of 21,300 vehicles passed through the crossing daily before it was removed.
The Oaklands Rail Crossing Grade Separation, located 12.8 km south of Adelaide, was a key initiative of the South Australian Government and part of a program of public transport projects.
The project was designed and constructed by the Public Transport Projects Alliance (PTPA), comprising ourselves, Arup and Mott MacDonald (design) and Department for Infrastructure and Transport (customer).
As part of an Alliance with our customer, Department for Infrastructure and Transport, CPB Contractors, and designers Mott MacDonald, Arup and Aurecon, we are delivering the Tram Grade Separation Projects in Adelaide, South Australia.
Jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments, the projects involve the removal of multiple level crossings along the Glenelg tram line.
McConnell Dowell with joint venture partner Fulton Hogan and designers Beca and Tonkin + Taylor completed the new Taparahi bridge and reopened State Highway 25A in record time.
The scope of work involved stabilising the slip and constructing a 124m long by 15m high bridge across the major slip.
McConnell Dowell, in alliance, delivered the Regency Road to Pym Street (R2P) Project, which connects the South Road Superway and Torrens Road to River Torrens Motorway, providing a continuous 47-kilometre motorway along the North-South Corridor.
The project was delivered four months early and $28 m below target cost by the R2P Alliance - made up of McConnell Dowell, Arup, Mott MacDonald and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.
