Prepared for An introduction to the SA & WA Region
May 2026
As we begin the assessment process we thought we'd share this short information pack, which explains the benefits of working with us, and showcases our capabilities and some of the interesting projects we deliver.
From remote resources and energy projects to city-shaping infrastructure, we've built thousands of quality assets and facilities.
Engineering-led, our expertise has grown steadily to span building, civil, electrical, fabrication, marine, mechanical, pipelines, rail, tunnel and underground construction..
We do that through delivering projects that connect, sustain and enhance communities, and through providing career opportunities that challenge, reward and grow our people.
We also have five company values that guide our behaviours and decisions. Our values are:
We also understand that construction today is as much about community and sustainability as it is about concrete and steel. Our unwavering objective and commitment is to deliver what we promise to our customers, while protecting and enhancing our people, the community and the environment.
We've delivered numerous high profile and complex road and rail bridge projects, along with a number of general civil, water, pipeline and marine infrastructure projects. Highlights include the Adelaide desalination plant and pipeline, Riverbank Precinct Bridge, O-Bahn City Access Project, Seaford Rail Extension, Regency Road to Pym Street Upgrade, and the recently completed Ovingham Level Crossing Removal.
During the most recent mining boom we delivered most of the new iron ore export wharves for FMG, BHP and Rio Tinto. We've also delivered hundreds of kilometres of gas pipelines and rail infrastructure throughout the state.
Closer to the CBD we've delivered rail grade separations, and all the mechanical and electrical packages for Perth's first desalination plant.
From wharves and jetties to ocean outfalls, breakwaters, and submarine pipelines — we bring coastal confidence to every project.
Our modular approach to construction has helped create productive ports for clients like Rio Tinto, FMG, Vale, and BHP, where over 1.2 billion tonnes of iron ore are shipped annually from wharves we built.
We designed and constructed the marine structures for BCI Minerals’ Mardie Salt & Potash Project in Western Australia, using our innovative canti-traveller system for speed and low impact delivery.
The 'Mardie' Project is a large-scale, solar evaporation operation on the Pilbara coast. Capacity of the completed facility is estimated to be 5.35 million tonnes per annum of high purity salt and 140,000 tonnes per annum of sulphate of potash, over an operating life of at least 60 years.
We’ve installed multi-span road bridges over live highways, launched heavy rail bridges across active corridors with minimal disruption, and upgraded major intersections and interchanges in some of the busiest transport networks.
From regional road upgrades to city-shaping rail overpasses, we work in close collaboration with stakeholders to deliver complex transport solutions that balance technical excellence with community needs and environmental care.
When the challenge calls for building smarter, safer, and stronger transport links, McConnell Dowell is the partner you can trust to get it done.
As part of an Alliance with our customer, Department for Infrastructure and Transport, CPB Contractors, and designers Mott MacDonald, Arup and Aurecon, we are delivering the Tram Grade Separation Projects in Adelaide, South Australia.
Jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments, the projects involve the removal of multiple level crossings along the Glenelg tram line.
The Midland Junction Alliance (MJA), an alliance comprising of ourselves, Georgiou Group, Arcadis and BG&E, is delivering the new METRONET Midland Station in Perth, Western Australia. METRONET is a multi-government agency created to oversee the expansion of Perth's metropolitan transport network.
The Midland Station project includes decommissioning and demolishing the existing 53 year old train station and the design and construction of a new station between Helena and Cale streets.
Our Australian Business Unit is led by an experienced group of professionals who are empowered to drive performance excellence across all our Australian operations and projects.

Our 'Win & Deliver' teams are accountable for the full lifecycle of our constructon business, including prospecting for opportunities, working with potential customers to add value in the project development phase, through to bidding for projects and delivering them.
It's the technical problems and challenges solved behind the scenes by people empowered to think creatively and work collaboratively. It’s the alternative idea or innovation that saves time, reduces cost, makes us safer, and delivers more value.
It might not always be evident when you look at the end product, but it's there, inside every McConnell Dowell project.
Thank you for considering McConnell Dowell in your future career plans. We hope this information has provided you with some additional insights into the exciting work we do, and the benefits of working with us.
