The Company is pleased to announce that the Southern Regional Water Pipeline Alliance has won a Gold Award in the transport and civil infrastructure category of the 2009 Association of Consulting Engineers Australia (ACEA) Awards for Excellence for its work on the South East Queensland Water Grid Interconnection pipeline system.

ACEA said “Quality and innovative engineering and management services played a key role in the successful delivery of a massive and complex project which is of critical benefit to communities in South East Queensland. The project clearly demonstrated the major benefits achieved by a highly integrated and successful alliance team.”

The South East Queensland Water Grid consists of 161 km of reverse-flow capacity pipeline network, including the Southern Regional Water Pipeline, which transports potable water from the Mt Crosby Treatment Plant to Molendinar on the Gold Coast, and included five pump stations, four reservoirs and eleven tunnels.

The project also included the Northern Pipeline Interconnector Stage 1 and the Eastern Pipeline Interconnector, the 47 km Northern Pipeline that runs between Landers Shute Water Treatment Plant, Landsborough and Morayfield Reservoir, Caboolture, and the 8.6 km Eastern Pipeline that links the Heinemann Road Reservoir, Redland and Kimberley Park Reservoir.
