Dan received the award at the 2009 APIA Convention and Exhibition held in Cairns, Queensland on 19 October 2009. Noel Pearson, who is a notable advocate of Cape York Partnerships and Indigenous Land Rights in north Queensland, presented Dan with the award.
Ashley Kellett, APIA President, said “Dan has been an outstanding and energetic supporter of APIA activities over the recent years and he is one of the people who represent the next generation of our industry”.
“On Top of his work with McConnell Dowell, Dan has thrown himself into a whole-of-industry approach and he is an active member of the Queensland Young Pipeliners Forum Committee” Mr Kellett said.
Dan has been instrumental in developing and leading the review into APIA’s Code of Environmental Practice for Onshore Pipelines, is an Active Australian Standards Committee Member for the Protection of Trees on Development sites, an active member of the APIA National Environment Committee and he is also a key supporter and driver of developing the MacDow Young Pipeliner Group both in Queensland and Nationally. Since then, he has progressed through numerous Alliance Projects on the SEQ Water Grid in Rehabilitation Team Leader and Environmental Manager Roles, and is currently the Construction Interface Manager for the Northern Network Alliance.
“MacDow has been very supportive of my efforts in raising the environmental awareness and performance of MacDow projects, people and corporate activities,” Dan said upon accepting the award. “The Nomination by MacDow is recognition of those efforts and receiving this National APIA accolade is very much appreciated.”
