MCJV, a joint venture between McConnell Dowell and Consolidated Contractors, is constructing the new Komo Airfield in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
Komo, which is located approximately 10 km south east of the Hydes Gas Conditioning Plant (HGCP) and the future Juha developments, has been selected as the site for the airport to support the PNG LNG project which will develop gas and liquid hydrocarbon resources located in the southern highlands of Papua New Guinea.
The PNG LNG Project is sponsored by a joint venture consisting of Esso Highlands Limited, Oil Search Limited (OSL), Santos, Nippon Oil, Mineral Resource Development Company (MRDC) and Eda Oil.

The MCJV is undertaking construction of:
- A new airfield at Komo;
- Approximately 21 km of upgraded track between HGCP and the airfield (through Terejaga) to project design standard for heavy load transport;
- Two new bridges designed to the project standard for heavy load transport on the HGCP - Komo Airfield Road;
- Approximately 21 km of fibre optic cable to be installed from the Komo Airfield to HGCP;
- Approximately 20 km of existing road between the Laijauko intersection (on the Idauwi - HGCP Road) and the new Komo Airfield (through Tagari) to be upgraded as required to support airfield construction.
